The abdominal aorta is the main and largest blood vessel in the abdominal cavity that transmits oxygenated blood from the thoracic cavity to the organs within the abdomen and to the lower limbs.
As part of the aorta, it is a direct continuation of the descending aorta.

1. Anterior/Ventral Branches ( @CM)
- Coeliac Trunk (T12)
- Superior Mesenteric Artery (L1)
- Inferior Mesenteric Artery (L3)
2. Lateral Branches (@I am MR. Gonadial)
- Inferior Phrenic Artery
- Middle Suprarenal Artery (L1)
- Renal Artery (Between L1 and L2)
- Gonadal Artery ( Testicular/Ovarian)
